In the first three months of this year, the Mexican trucking sector achieved a rebound of almost 14%, as trade relations between the United States and Mexico improved.
This business relationship produced more than $ 50 million; made up of exports, from Mexican territory to the United States (almost 34 million dollars); while in the opposite direction it had an approximate of 24 million dollars. We see this in the information published by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
According to the BTS, motor transport was one of the industries that reached a greater recovery, adding almost 41 million dollars; amount that represents more than 70% of the total made by both nations.
Studying these data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics , we see that, between January and March, more than 150 million dollars were achieved through commercial exchanges.
This amount exceeds the amount registered last year by 4%, due to the advances in exports that originate in Mexican soil (almost 3%); and imports from North America (just over 6%).
It should be noted that the rise obtained by motor transport in March of this year was 17%. Therefore, the BTS indicated the following information on the behavior registered in the same month of 2020:
• The railway sector made a 3% advance in transported items
• Maritime transport had a decline of almost 5%
• The airline sector would be located at + 7%
• Pipelines registered an abnormality of + 131% with respect to the comparative period
BTS also reported that trucking contributed more than $ 100 million in the first three months of 2021. This was possible thanks to exports that brought in more than $ 65 million, while imports brought in $ 42 million.
Similarly, it would increase 4% with respect to the magnitude of materials transported during the first three months of this year; compared to the same period last year.
The railroad industry, which is the second mode of transport within the commercial barter that exists between Mexico and the United States, generated more than 19 million dollars. These are made up of exports (over $ 10 million) and imports (nearly $ 8 million).
Sea shipments registered just over 14 million ; These are derived from the almost 9 million dollars for exports from Mexican soil and 5 million dollars that result from imports.
For the January-March cycle of this year, more than $ 150 million was the product of trade between the US and Mexico. It makes this nation the most important commercial partner of North Americans, surpassing countries such as China or Canada.
Even, in the coming years, the export, import and other services sectors, such as logistics, will be counted as the most requested industries. Thus, through e-commerce, Mexico could attract more American customers who require logistics.
This will be the case in particular with regard to services related to imports, something that would benefit local companies due to the fact that the two countries are close together.
According to information published by PayPal on this year’s international trade agreements; COVID-19 was the reason that drove the popularity of electronic commerce in Mexico more than in other nations.
Mobile commerce that is carried out using mobile devices has grown faster than the rest of e- commerce.
We must highlight the great economic rebound that the US has had this year; after granting a fiscal contribution of almost 2 trillion dollars and managing the advances that expanded the vaccine against COVID-19.
“ Mexico could achieve great benefits within the transport and logistics sector, because value links could be shortened by relocations and prices for assistance. In fact, both services on Mexican soil have a lower cost within the North American territory, ” said Gregorio Canales, CEO of the North American Investment Solutions consulting company.
